LIHU‘E —Tori Ann Ishikawa scored twice for the Westside Falcons Saturday.
But Ishikawa scored for two different Westside Falcon teams during the Kaua‘i Soccer Association championships for the spring league at the North Vidinha fields.
Ishikawa broke a 0-0 deadlock in overtime for the only score as the Westside Falcons Boys Under 10 netted a 1-0 overtime win over Team Onipa‘a Boys Under 10 and also netted a goal for the Falcons Girls Under 10 team.
“We had some awesome games this weekend,” said Jane Garma, scorekeeper for KSA. “After last week’s playoffs where we had several upsets, this is great.”
Jasmine Semblante came back with two goals to lead the Team Onipa‘a Boys Under 8 to a 2-1 edge over the Westside Falcons Boys Under 8, who got one goal from Ryson Wa‘alani.
Earlier in the day, Seijia Makanani had the magic foot, scoring the Golden Goal in overtime to give the Lihu‘e Cougars Girls Under 8 a 1-0 win over Pohaku Girls Under 8, the field being rocked by the cheering of the fans in the see-saw battle.
Kaya Camara scored a goal for the Cougars in regulation and Kaia Davis-Caberto netted a Pohaku goal, sending the game into the Golden Goal overtime.
April Barnes, Cabria Ort and Alexandra Temme scored goals for the Kaua‘i Extreme Strikers Girls Under 12 for a 3-2 edge over the North Shore FC Rainbow Ninjas, Girls Under 12 who saw Brianna Binder and Natalie Devin find the net.
In a tough battle in the Under 12 division, Team Onipa‘a Boys Under 12 was awarded the title in a 1-0 match over the Kaua‘i Bulls, Boys Under 12, which was settled in shootout following a 0-0 deadlock after regulation and two overtime periods.
Lyndsie Kashima and Kristin Kawamura each netted two goals to lead the Kaua‘i Sparks, Girls Under 14 to a 4-0 win over GIFC-Black, Girls Under 14 and in the final game, Carl Mecham had a hat trick, or three goals, to lead the Westside Falcons, Boys Under 14 to a 5-2 win over the GIFC-White, Boys Under 14 who got two goals from Justin Franklin.
Helping Mecham, Tyren Kaneshige and Ryan Ruiz each found the net once in the win.
