PUHI — Kaua‘i Community College will celebrate the conferring of 383 total degrees Friday starting at 6:15 p.m. at the KCC Performing Arts Center.
Earl Nishiguchi, vice chancellor of student affairs, said the total number of degrees reflects several students receiving multiple degrees, not the actual number of students graduating.
The commencement is an invitation-only event, but there will be space for those who want to present lei and gifts to graduates but did not get an invitation, Nishiguchi said.
“Last year, the audio-visual crew arranged to have the commencement exercises televised to monitors set up in the dining facility,” Nishiguchi said. “This year, the overflow crowd has been increased because in addition to the dining facility, monitors will be set up in the multi-purpose room at the Office of Continuing Education and Training.”
He was excited about the latest development, which will allow the public to view the commencement exercises from home through the Internet.
“There was a contractor who provided live streaming service during last year’s ceremony,” Nishiguchi said. “This year, the college will be doing its own live streaming. Visit www.kauai.hawaii.edu for the link starting Friday.”
There will be special parking arrangements in force Friday to allow for the graduates to meet their well-wishers and families following the commencement exercises.
