Silas Tacsiat finished with a game-high 21 points, but Notorious came up short, falling to the Kings 69-60 Friday night at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Playing in the Men’s 18 and Over basketball league, Tacsiat ended the night with three from outside the three-point mark and six buckets in a game that had Notorious leading the Kings by a digit, 15-14, at the end of the opening period.
But the Kings, gunning behind the game-high 20 points from Tab Matsumoto, came back for a 15-7 second period to take a 29-22 lead at the half, holding on for the remainder of the game.
Matsumoto, also netting three from outside the three-point arc, added four field goals and was three-for-six from the charity stripe in his 20-point showing.
Joining Matsumoto, Justin Starks finished with seven buckets and a three-for-five performance on the foul line and added 17 points in the first of two games Friday night.
Following Tacsiat for Notorious, player-coach Russull Bocalbos ended with 18 points in the effort.
J.R. Punzalan of the Tropang-L, following the footsteps of Notorious, ended with a game-high 28 points, including three treys, seven buckets and going almost perfect at five-of-six at the foul line, but Tropang-L dropped the game 65-48 to the SupaStars, who got 16 points from Nate Smith.
Smith launched one three-ball, netted six buckets and was one-for-two at the charity line, followed by Gabe Legacy, another player-coach, who netted 14 points on four buckets and a pair of treys.
James Badua followed Punzalan’s lead with eight points for Tropang-L.
The Men’s 18 and Over league next takes the floor at the Kapa‘a High School gym with three games scheduled starting Thursday at 6 p.m.
Karen Matsumoto, scorekeeper for the Men’s league, announced that games scheduled for June 7 in Kapa‘a have been rescheduled for this Thursday to avoid conflict with the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association Boys 17 and Under basketball tournament, which plays June 7 through 9 at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
