PO‘IPU — Kim Medeiros copped the Fast Time for the Goat Tying and the Steer Undecorating events, but came up four points short to Marti Snyder during the recent Kaua‘i All Girls Rodeo Association event at the CJM Country Stables in Po‘ipu.
Snyder, topping the 2nd D in the 3D Pole Bending event, was named the All Around Cowgirl for the six-event rodeo with 39 points. Medeiros, the KAGRA Secretary, topped the Steer Undecorating and Goat Tying events en route to her 35 points for Reserve All Around Cowgirl honors.
Snyder, in addition to copping top honors in the 2nd D of Pole Bending on a 23.746 go, finished third in the Goat Tying on a 28.698 go, second in the Steer Undecorating at a 5.71/2 average on two go’s, and headed for two teams for a third and fifth finish in the Dally Team Roping event.
Snyder headed for Kim Medeiros for third place on a 15.76/1 and for Kristyn Vasconcelles for fifth place on a 19.27/1 go.
Kim Medeiros topped the Goat Tying on a 23.936 go for Fast Time honors in that event, adding another Fast Time in the Steer Undecorating where she topped the field on a 4.67/2 average on two go’s, rounding out her outing by teaming with Snyder for third place in the Dally Team Roping.
Sandra Akita, last year’s KAGRA All-Around Cowgirl, topped the 1st D in the 3D Barrel Racing event on a 17.996 go followed by Taylor Ludington taking second (18.031) and third (18.279) places followed by Eliza Vierra (18.345), a former award-winning tandem surfer with her dad Kalani. Cheree Rapozo rounded out the 1st D on an 18.450.
Trish Lorenzo topped the 2nd D Barrels on a 19.573 go followed by Tami Yamamoto (19.677), Rosanne Shimogawa, Shan Mundon (19.894) and Stephanie Barnum (20.021).
Janine Wilson topped the 3rd D Barrels on a 21.750 go followed by Pat Hashimoto-Ferreira (21.797), Bongo Lee (22.587), and KAGRA President Debbie Bail (22.684).
Young Cheyanne Tannery topped the 1st D of the 3D Pole Bending with a 21.271 over Akita’s 22.299 go, the only two riders posted in the 1st D.
Following Snyder in the 2nd D Pole Bending, Christina Del La Fuente (24.016), Yamamoto (24.164), Waimea High School senior Hallie Cristobal (24.803) and Trish Lorenzo (24.985) rounded out the 2nd D.
Ho‘olai Ludington topped the 3rd D Pole Bending on a 25.387 go followed by Nancy McMahon (25.413), Brianne Murayama (25.549), Eliza Vierra (25.587) and Courtney Medeiros (26.250).
Following Kim Medeiros in the Goat Tying, Menehune senior Cristobal (25.095), Snyder, Britni Ludington-Braun (30.509), Cheyanne Tannery (31.885) rounded out the leaders.
Following Kim Medeiros and Snyder in the Steer Undecorating, Rhonda Kaui (6.38/2), Akita (6.57/2) and Lee (7.36/2) rounded out the leaders.
Alexis Vasconcelles topped the Breakaway Roping event on an 8.03/2 followed by Cora Murayama (11.89/2), Robin Medeiros (13.14/2), Joyce Miranda (15.34/2) and Lee (21.71/2) rounded out the leaderboard.
Cora Murayama teamed with Britni Ludington-Braun to top the Dally Team event on a 25.99/2 average on two go’s followed by Alexis Vasconcelles and Cheree Rapozo (9.03/1), Snyder/Kim Medeiros (15.76/1), Tami Yamamoto/Cheree Rapozo (17.22/1) and Snyder/Kristyn Vasconcelles (19.27/1) rounding out the leaders.
