HANALEI — Night work and lane closures will take place tonight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Friday on Kuhio Highway on the slope leading from Princeville to Hanalei Bridge, while crews repair damage caused by heavy rains in March.
There will be brief times during the evening when the highway will be closed entirely. Please watch for traffic control personnel who will be on site directing vehicles.
The makai lane of Kuhio Highway just above Hanalei Bridge has been closed since March, when heavy rains caused substantial erosion of both the hillside and part of the road bed. Construction crews will be paving the road.
Officials are asking, for public safety and to help construction crews expedite repairs, residents and visitors to minimize their time driving through the area if at all possible until repairs are complete.
