Ha‘ena — The county Department of Water on Friday issued a two-month water conservation request for residents in the Ha‘ena to Wainiha area, effective Friday due to the continuing rehabilitation of the 100,000 gallon water tank that services the area.
The project began last week and is expected to continue through the end of August, states a county press release.
While the work is being done, smaller temporary tanks will allow for continued water service to the area. Due to this limited capacity, water conservation is necessary to avoid outages.
Essential needs include cooking, bathing and toilet flushing.
Water conservation measures include refraining from car washing, reducing outdoor irrigation and using water wisely indoors and outdoors.
County officials are also asking residents are to notify their neighbors of this request and encourage their participation.
The Ha‘ena project is part of DOW’s comprehensive long range plan to replace or repair aging infrastructure so customers can continue to be provided with safe and affordable water.
