LIHU‘E — Rescue personnel responded to two incidents on the North Shore Saturday morning, according to a county news release.
The first call came at around 11:30 a.m. about a female visitor from Mill Valley, Calif., who was lying on Hanakapi‘ai Beach experiencing complications from her pregnancy.
Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 picked up the woman, who is six months pregnant, and flew her to Princeville Airport where Hanalei firefighters and medics were waiting. After treating the woman, medics transported her to Wilcox Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
Immediately afterwards, Rescue 3 flew to Makapili Beach in Kilauea to assist with the rescue of a 33-year-old Kilauea woman who reportedly suffered neck injuries while boogie boarding. When they arrived on scene, ocean safety officers from Tower 2 and Hanalei firefighters were already there and had prepared the woman for transport. Rescue 3 then flew with the woman to Princeville Airport aboard Air 1 where awaiting medics then transported her to Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
The condition of the women was not known by press time.
