Masaaki “Alau” Yamamoto of Hanapepe Heights, Kaua‘i died on July 20, 2012 at home at the age of 86. He was born on March 8, 1926 in Makaweli, Hawai‘i. He was a supervisor for the County of Kaua‘i maintenance department.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sukeichi and Misao Yamamoto; brothers; Tadayoshi (Yoshie) Yamamoto, Mitsuyoshi (Fusae) Yamamoto, Kazuo (Betty) Yamamoto and Mutsuo (Helen) Yamamoto.
He is survived by his wife, Chiyeko; four sons, Lester (Jan) Yamamoto of Honolulu, Dean (Lynn) Yamamoto of Waipahu, Reid (Roxanne) Yamamoto of Mililani and Ross (Karen) Yamamoto of Mililani; brother, Sutemi Yamamoto of Hanapepe; sister, Sumiko (Sam) Motoike of Stockton, Calif.; five grandchildren, Riley, Erin, Jaz, Dawne and Ty Yamamoto; and numerous nieces and nephews. Private services. Family requests no koden.

Yuzuru Iwamoto
Yuzuru “Lanky” Iwamoto died on July 19, 2012 at home at the age of 91. He was born on June 24, 1921 in Wailua, Kaua‘i. He was a retired maintenance worker with the County of Kaua‘i.
He is survived by his two sons, Clifton (Edna) Iwamoto of Hilo and Stanford (Shigeko) Iwamoto of Kapa‘a; daughter, Violet Hayashi of Seattle, Wash.; two sisters, Shizuko Shiramizu of Lihu‘e and Arleen (Norman) Kawamoto of Pearl City; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be held on Friday at the Kapa‘a Hongwanji Mission. Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Service to begin at 4 p.m.
Family suggests casual attire and flowers be omitted.

James Karimoto
James Toshiichi Karimoto of Hilo, Hawai‘i, and formerly of Kaua‘i, died on July 12, 2012 at the Hilo Medical Center at the age of 77. He was born on March 24, 1935 in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i. He was a retired security guard, a driver for Robert’s Hawai‘i and a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by is daughter, Lorene (Robert) Texeira of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i; son, Kevin (Star) Saflor of Las Vegas; brother, Herbert (Bea) Karimoto of Los Angeles; sisters, Elsie Kawakami of Honolulu and Shirley Willis of Wailua, Kaua‘i; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call at 11 a.m. Friday at the Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i for a noon memorial service. The family requests casual attire and flowers be omitted.
