LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i Government Employees Federal Credit Union Lending Manager Tom Vallatini had extra duties, Friday.
“We’re celebrating the credit union’s new Automatic Teller Machine, the credit union’s new credit card, and because it’s Friday the 13th, we just want to let people know that it’s a lucky day to belong to the credit union,” said Lisa Murphy-Allison, the KGEFCU marketing manager. “We have Tom (Vallatini) cooking hot dogs and Conrad Rualizo helping serve.”
Murphy-Allison said the Lucky Friday the 13th event served to launch the KGEFCU credit card program which offers competitive pricing combined with a full range of reward options.
“Interested people can pick up an application, fill it out and return it by July 23 and start earning points,” Murphy-Allison said.
The new ATM, boldly facing customers approaching the front entrance of the credit union, was installed in mid-May and following testing, was put in operation in June, Rualizo said.
“This is the first of its type on Kaua‘i,” he said, while wrapping more hot dogs. “You can deposit, or withdraw.”
Murphy-Allison said the ATM features a touch screen that aids when making deposits. Allowing the customer to scan checks as well as count wads of bills, the verification being on the customer’s receipt.
“In the case of a scanned check, there is a photo of the check on the receipt,” she explained before hurrying off to meet a customer exiting the credit union’s drive-through teller. “The best part is it’s available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
The KGEFCU, established in 1947, is celebrating its 65th year in business and currently employs 14 staff members.
“We only recently got our building repainted professionally, inside and out,” Murphy-Allison said. “You can still get the smell of paint when you get inside the building. We have our new ATM machine, the credit card, and literally, if we don’t have it, you don’t need it.”
The KGEFCU is open Mondays through Wednesdays from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
