MOLOA‘A — Are you ready step out of the ordinary and into a world of relaxation, quiet your mind and open your heart?
“Be prepared to drop into a state of bliss,” said certified yoga instructor Janice Craig, founder of Aloha Namaste, offering retreats, yoga, science of ayurveda, bhakti of music, freedom of dance and the “sacredness of natural wonders.”
On the last Sunday of each month, Craig teaches a “Yin Yoga and Sound Healing” class in her private studio in Moloa‘a, Kaua‘i’s North Shore.
“I feature a different sound healing every time,” Craig said. “People love this class, which is my signature class.”
This Sunday, those attending the yin yoga class will be treated to special guests Tiffany Tatum and Sound Alchemy.
Yin yoga and sound healing is a form of restorative yoga, penetrating deep into the body through extended poses and passive release using bolsters, blankets and blocks, according to Craig.
She said as the patterns of the body and mind melt away, an opening is created for the vibratory frequencies of sound to recalibrate the nervous system, bringing a sense of connection and inner peace.
Besides teaching the monthly yin yoga classes, Craig teaches a “Primal Core Yoga” class twice a week, and is an ayurvedic practitioner and licensed massage therapist. She also facilitates and produces workshops and retreats in Hawai‘i and California.
“Primal Core Yoga is a dynamic, restorative and devotional practice weaving yoga, ayurveda and kundalini tantra,” Craig said. “This practice is designed to give you energy, clear the blockages, rewire your nervous system, strengthen your core, open the creative flow and align with the bio rhythms of nature.”
Using the practice of asana, pranayama, mudras, sounds and chants, she said she gracefully guides one to the “inner remembrance of a deeper embodied truth.”
Additionally, Craig is an Ordained Priestess of the 13 Moon Mystery School and has taken Deeksha with Guruji Amritananda in the lineage of Sri Vidya Tantra.
“The 13 Moon Mystery School is an initiation into female mysteries,” she said. “It is the path of the heart that inspires one to their greater purpose and empowers one to live the truth of who they are.”
The monthly yin yoga and sound healing is this Sunday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and the fee is on a sliding scale of $13 to $20.
