July 11 marked the opening day of the Kaua‘i Music Festival’s Songwriter Conference, which took place at the Kaua‘i Beach Resort in Lihu‘e.
Music personalities, up-and-coming musicians and songwriters from all over the world participated in seminars, one-on-one instructions and open mic sessions that ran from 8 a.m. to midnight.
The event was hosted by Jerry and Katherine Brocklehurst, who, along with the assistance of volunteers and staff, brought together an intimate and educational setting for musical advancement.
The conference is held annually and provides a rare opportunity for up-and-coming musicians and songwriters to be recognized and heard.
The conference helped participants hone their musical skills, and for some talented artists, provided an opportunity to have their music placed in television or movies. Its main focus, however, is to create lifelong friendships, share music and develop networks.
