Beatriz Nidea
Beatriz Obong Nidea of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, passed away at her home on June 26, 2012, at the age of 90. Born on March 23, 1922, in the Philippines, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents Isodoro and Jacinta Obong and her grandson Cres Ramos Jr.
She is survived by her husband Alberto Nodea, Sr.; daughter, Becky (Cres) Ramos, Sr.; son, Alberto (Cherryann) Nidea Jr.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may vist with the family on Saturday, July 28, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a from 8 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Catherine’s Church Cemetery.

Chester Sueoka
Chester Rikio Sueoka of Honolulu passed away on June 29, 2012, at Maunalani Nursing Home at the age of 64. Born in Hilo, Hawai‘i, he was a retired mechanic supervisor for OCCC.
He is survived by mother, Sadako Sueoka of Hilo; brother, Harold Sueoka of Hilo; sisters, Marian (Henry) Hamada of Kaua‘i, Doris (Roy Yamashita) Kimura of Hilo; nieces, nephews, great-grand-nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary, with inurnment at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Family suggests casual attire and no flowers.

Dorothy Winczewski
Dorothy Winczewski was born Oct. 18, 1924, in Virginia, Minnesota, youngest child of the Kochkas Family. She was a Cadet Corps’ student nurse during World War II.
She retired from the VA Hospital in Portland, Ore., in 1987, and she and her husband made their home in Lihu‘e.
Dorothy was very active in her church, the Immaculate Conception Parish on the island of Kaua‘i, where she was a very successful fund-raiser and grant-writer for their school and parish.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons, John Winczewski of Lihu‘e and Mark Winczewski of Sandy, Ore.; daughter, Patricia Franklin of St. Helens, Ore.; sister Helen Grigg of Virginia, Minn.; and three grandchildren.

Mamerta Clemente
Mamerta Tangonan Clemente of Wailua Homesteads, Kaua‘i, passed away on June 24, 2012, at the age of 75. She was born on May 11, 1937, in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. She was a retired State of Hawaii Department of Health worker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julio Clemente; step-daughter, Julia Rojas; step-son, Richard Clemente; parents, Placido and Dorotea Tangonan; brothers, Ernesto, Adriano and Felix Tangonan; and sister, Consolacion Tangonan.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Pearson of Honolulu; son, Julio Clemente of Honolulu; step-daughter, Margaret (Ronald) Tanaka of Honolulu; step-son, George (Leona) Clemente of Waipio; brother, Arnolfo (Margarita) Tangonan of San Diego, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church, Kapa‘a. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Joseph Frost
Joseph Everett Frost of Kapa‘a died July 1, 2012, at the age of 59, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 10, 1953, in Boise, Idaho. Joe graduated from Meridian High School in 1971, and went on to serve his country in the United States Army Reserve program while building homes and studying for his real estate license. He later joined the family business of Frost Realty, which was located in Meridian, Idaho, and founded by his grandfather Harry, in 1953.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Francis Frost of Eagle, Idaho. He is survived by his mother, Luella (Davidson) Frost of Eagle; two sisters, Amiletta (James L.) Boyd of Boise, and Bonnie (Ray) Stovall of McCall, Idaho. Joe leaves behind three adult children, Jared Robert Frost of Boise, Idaho, Joseph Ramsey (Sarah) Frost of Harmony, Florida, and Adam Francis Frost, of Boise. In addition, he leaves behind two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held for family. Donations in memory of Joseph Frost should be made to Kaua‘i Hospice.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Frost family with arrangements.
Epefania Galingan
Epefania Galingan of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, died on June 22, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 87. She was born to Pedro Ballesteros and Maria Manzano Ballesteros on Jan. 25, 1925, in Narvacan Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She was a housekeeper with Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio Galingan; son, Danny Galingan; brother, Dominador Ballesteros; and a sister, Leonida Pascua.
She is survived by her two daughters, Wilma (Trinidad) Raval of Lihu‘e, and Lolita (Romie) Mabini of Lihu‘e; four brothers, Eleuterio (Leonida) Ballesteros of Honolulu, Samuel (Naty) Ballesteros of Honolulu, Arsenio (Esther) Ballesteros of Honolulu, and Rodolfo Ballesteros of the Philippines; three sisters, Magdalena Pascua of Honolulu, Priscilla Ballesteros and Florida Leones, both of the Philippines; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 14, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lihu‘e.
Visitation will be from 8:30 am to 9:30 a.m. Mass will begin at 10 a.m., and burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Family suggests casual attire and flowers are open.

Vicenta Omakanim Remata of Makaweli, Kaua‘i, passed away on June 25, 2012, at the age of 103. She was born on Sept. 11, 1908, in Bugu, Cebu, Philippines. She was a homemeaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Crisanto Remata; mother, Matiya Luok; brothers, Domingo Omakanim and Joseph Omakanim; sister, Brihida Villamor; and daughter-in-law, Donna Remata.
She is survived by her sons, David (Mercy) Remata of Makaweli, Edward (Berna) Remata of Makaweli, Alfredo (Flora) Remata of Lihu‘e, Richard Remata of Honolulu, Stanley (Norma) Remata of Honolulu, Wilfred Remata of California, Lawrence Remata of California, Patrick Remata of California; daughters, Mildred (Bernardo) Olores of Kekaha, Elizabeth (Elepidio) Aquino of Lihu‘e, Sister Florence Remata, Order Of Saint Francis, of Lihu‘e, Vivian (Alvis) Nonaka of California; 28 grandchildren, 54 great- grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Dolores Omakanim of Waimea.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Kekaha. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m.
Burial to follow at Kauai Veterans Cemetery, Hanapepe.

Carol Kelekoma
Carol Ann Kelekoma of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, died on June 8, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 50. She was born to Yoshio Higa and Charlotte McCumsey on Sept. 19, 1961, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey K. Kelekoma Sr.; three sons, Jeffrey Jr., Justin and Brandon Kelekoma, all of Kapa‘a; five daughters, Tina K. Miyoshi, Joann, Justine, Jamilyn and Carol Ann Kelekoma, all of Kapa‘a; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Clyde Higa of Kapa‘a, Glenn Higa of Anahola and Clayton Higa of O‘ahu; and two sisters, Cindy Delima of Kona and Lisa Higa of Kapa‘a.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to noon.
Burial to follow at the Lihu‘e Public Cemetery.

Esmenia Lucia Belmonte of Kilauea, Kaua‘i, passed away on June 23, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. She was born on March 21, 1931, in Kilauea.
She was a retired supervisor at The Cliffs at Princeville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Timoteo and Eutropia Yadao; son, Patrick Belmonte; sister, Mary Cabacungan; and brother, “Nado” Yadao.
She is survived by her husband Isidro Belmonte Sr. of Kilauea; sons, Isidro Belmonte Jr. of Kilauea, Andrew Belmonte of California, Eric (Crystal) Belmonte of Kilauea; daughter, Brandie (Ross) Pimental of Kapaa; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Jose (Jean) Yadao of Kapa‘a, Joseph (Theresa) Yadao of Kilauea; sisters, Josephine (Chris) Asuncion of Kilauea, Christina Constantino of Kilauea and Frances (Modesto) Bilog of California; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday at St. Sylvester’s Catholic Church in Kilauea. Visitation will be at 8:30 a.m.

Dionicio Alfredo “Pedong” Purisima of Kalaheo, Kaua‘i, passed away on June 21, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. He was born on Oct. 9, 1929, in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He retired as an irrigator for McBryde Sugar Plantation.
He was preceeded in death by his daughter, Glynda Purisima; parents, Anatalio and Melchora Purisima; and brother, David Purisima.
He is survived by his wife, Gregoria “Goyang” Purisima; sons, Bernard (Christie) Purisima of Lihu‘e, Arnel (Shana Oyama) Purisima of ‘Ele‘ele; daughter, Arlene (Nick Arruda) Purisima of Lihu‘e; sisters, Eugenia Peralta, Philippines, Lourdes Mirasol, Philippines, Nina Sapilo, Philippines; brother, Thomas Purisima, Philippines; granchildren, Kevin, Janice, Rhylen, Kimberly, Jaysen, Kaitlyn, Connor, Jaqlyn, Kari and Tony; brother-in-laws Sotero (Hermie) Solatre of Lihu‘e and Tomas (Tessie) Solatre of Kalaheo; sister-in-law, Estrella Braceros of Lihu‘e; and numerous nieces and nephews.
