Carolina Polintang
Carolina M. Polintang of Hanama‘ulu died at Garden Isle Health Care on June 22, 2012, at the age of 89. She was born in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on March 17, 1923, and retired as a housekeeper at Kaua‘i Resort.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vicente Polintang and Celedonia Maneja Polintang; brothers, Venancio, Tito, Andres, Oligario, Onorio, Bonifacio, Timoteo; and sisters, Modesta, Narcisa, Anastacia and Mercedes.
She is survived by her brother, Pedro Polintang of Hanamaulu; sister-in-law, Magdalena S. Polintang of Hanama‘ulu; nieces, Ludy Tumpap, Victoria (Manolo) Herrera, Rose (Bernie) Semana, Glory (Efren) Taylon, Betty Polintang and Dana (Danial) Garven; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 12, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Polintang family with arrangements.
Robert Rasmussen
Robert Rasmussen passed away June 12, 2012, in Fairhope, Ala., where he and his wife had recently moved from Princeville. He was 91. He was treasurer of Reliable Life Insurance Company for 35 years and treasurer of Waioli Huiia Church in Hanalei for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn; his daughter Rebbeca Maddox of Mobile, Ala.; his son Peter R. Rasmussen of Whitefish Bay, Wis.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Bellefontain Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
Emily Torres
Emily Lauwae Torres of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, passed away on June 25, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 58. She was born in Waianae, O‘ahu, on Dec. 19, 1953. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice Hoapili, and sisters, Florence Manuel and Charlene McKeague.
She is survived by her husband Gregory Torres of Lihu‘e; daughter Lauwae Torres of Lihu‘e; sisters, Mary Coronel of Waianae, Sherlene Kamaka of Waianae, Sharon (Michael) of Hinton, Ore., Helen (Monte) Mc Comber of Kapolei, Alice (Doroteo) Vasquez of Texas, Florence Hoapili of the Big Island, Nadine (Gary) Kawamura of Anahola and Meiling Hoapili of Kaua‘i; brothers, John (Olga) Hoapili Jr. of Waianae, Joseph Hoapili Sr. of Kaua‘i, Antone (Debra) Hoapili of Waianae, Rhinehart Hoapili of Waianae, Gustave (Yvonne) Hoapili of Waianae and Jonah (Billie-Jo) Hoapili of Waianae; numerous nieces and nephews and one grandchild.
Friends may visit with the family on July 28 at Lydgate Beach Park in Wailua. Service will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Luncheon to follow service.

Dionicio Purisma
Dionicio Alfredo “Pedong” Purisima of Kalaheo, Kaua‘i, passed away on June 21, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. He was born on Oct. 9, 1929, in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He retired as an irrigator for McBryde Sugar Plantation.
He was preceeded in death by his daughter, Glynda Purisima; parents, Anatalio and Melchora Purisima; and brother, David Purisima.
He is survived by his wife, Gregoria “Goyang” Purisima; sons, Bernard (Christie) Purisima of Lihu‘e, Arnel (Shana Oyama) Purisima of ‘Ele‘ele; daughter, Arlene (Nick Arruda) Purisima of Lihu‘e; sisters, Eugenia Peralta, Philippines, Lourdes Mirasol, Philippines, Nina Sapilo, Philippines; brother, Thomas Purisima, Philippines; granchildren, Kevin, Janice, Rhylen, Kimberly, Jaysen, Kaitlyn, Connor, Jaqlyn, Kari and Tony; brother-in-laws Sotero (Hermie) Solatre of Lihu‘e and Tomas (Tessie) Solatre of Kalaheo; sister-in-law, Estrella Braceros of Lihu‘e; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 13, at the Purisima residence, 2067 Peleleu St., Kalaheo at 6 p.m. and again on Saturday, July 14, at Holy Cross Church. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. with Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Burial to follow at St. Raphael Catholic Cemetary, Koloa. Celebration of his life luncheon will follow at the Purisima residence. Family suggests casual attire.
