On Aug. 10, Pu‘uwai Haokila Gallery in Hanapepe presented “Living The Dream,” an event that showcased the art of one of Kaua‘i’s most renowned artists: Diane Wry. Thirty-four beautiful works of Wry’s art were displayed in an intimate and joyful atmosphere.
This was the debut showcase of Wry, who has been on Kaua‘i for almost eight years. Wry said her art is inspired by the courage and spirit of Princess Ka‘iulani Cleghorn.
At first Wry painted using watercolor, then later added oil painting to her repertoire. Friends, colleagues and visitors took part in this festive celebration. Live music was performed by local musician Jay Young.
The event kicked off at 5 p.m. and culminated at 9 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from sales will be donated to the Philippine Outreach Centre Orphanage in Olongapo City, Philippines.
