Seven information and referral specialists with the Agency on Elderly Affairs recently passed an international certification examination that’s administered by the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems, county officials announced Friday.
The AIRS exam measures competencies and related performance criteria that are needed by I&R specialists to successfully perform their duties including: knowledge; skills; attitudes; and work-related behaviors, according to a news release.
Kaua’i’s newly certified I&R specialists in aging include: Edith Abigania; Kanani Fu, Patricia Gonsalves, Gale Kashuba, Rose Manago, Charlyn Nakamine and June Renaud.
“The CIRS-A credential indicates their expertise in community resources and services for older adults and people with disabilities, and demonstrates our commitment to excellence and quality customer service,” says AEA Executive Kealoha Takahashi in the release. “It also enhances our mission, which supports and advocates for the well-being of Kauai’s older adults, and serves as a one-stop source of information.”
Takahashi noted that five additional members of the AEA staff will be taking the AIRS certification examination later this year.
