Kaua‘i Society of Artists presented the opening of “Art Kauai 2012” at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e earlier this month.
The event is KSA’s biggest of the year.
Every year a juror is on hand to evaluate each piece of art. This year’s juror was David Behlke, art instructor at Kapioloani Community College on O‘ahu.
Behkle evaluated 76 works by 54 artists.
As the doors opened, the room filled to capacity with artists and interested spectators. Behlke gave a speech, which emphasized the importance of art and making an effort to learn. After the speech, Behlke handed out certificates to artists who he thought displayed the best works.
“Art Kaua‘i 2012” is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday.
