KAPA‘A — A benefit softball tournament for Hulali Kiyoko Rivera will be held through Sunday at Kapa‘a New Town Ball Park.
Rivera was diagnosed at eight months old with bilateral retinoblastoma, a childhood cancer of the retina, according to Rivera’s parents, Anolani Higashi and Peter “Kelo” Rivera of Anahola.
The child had two lesions in her brain at 15 months, and after receiving treatment in California, she remains stable, but needs an MRI of her brain every three months in O‘ahu and check ups every six months in California.
Money raised at the tournament will be used to cover cost not covered by medical for her ongoing exams and check up, according to the family.
Today, the Custom Landscaping plays the Hyatt/Marriott at 6:30 p.m.; the Poi Dogs take on the Regulators at 7:30 p.m.; and the Poi Dugs plays the Jus Bring at 8:30 p.m.
On Saturay, it’s the Young Blood vs. Poison, and Nothing 2 Hide vs. XXX at 8 a.m.; the Custom Landscaping vs. Outlaws, and Solid vs. Regulators at 9 a.m.; the Hyatt/Marriott vs. Killahz, and Jus Bring vs. Young Blood at 10 a.m.; the Outlaws vs. Reef Oana, and Nothing 2 Hide vs. Poison at 11 a.m.; Kawaihau vs. Custom, and XXX vs. Solid at noon; the Outlaws vs. Hyatt, and Regulators vs. Poison at 1 p.m.; the Young Bloods vs. Nothing 2, and the Poi Dogs vs. Solid at 2 p.m.; and XXX vs. Jus Bring at 3 p.m.
The single elimination tournament begins Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
