‘ANINI — A Kilauea man was arrested Friday afternoon following two thefts on ‘Anini Road.
The incident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. Friday, when two families reported being the victims of a burglary at their vacation rentals on ‘Anini Road, according to a county news release.
A bystander witnessed a male subject leaving one of the homes and fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
Police traced the vehicle to the home of 18-year-old Ivan Hoomanawanui who had stolen an undisclosed amount of cash and various electronics, including two laptops and a camera.
Most of the stolen cash and items were recovered and returned to the owners.
Hoomanawanui was arrested for first-degree burglary and second-degree theft.
He has since been released on $6,000 bail.
