Saturday’s Warpath to Mayhem: Rapid Fire mixed martial arts (MMA) event featured children and adult fighters from across the state. The 10-fight stacked card featured fighters from highly-regarded martial arts academies throughout Hawai‘i such as Chris Leben’s Fight School, New Breed Kaua‘i, Bulls Pen, Team MMAD, Disciples of Puhi and 808 Fight Factory.
The night started out with a bang with the kids 115-pound amateur kickboxing bout. Alika Augustine of West O‘ahu Mixed Martial Arts (WOMMA) defeated Chase Cottrell of White Robe, Hilo in an exciting second round knockout.
In the 130-pound amateur MMA bout, Jeff Nojo (Chris Leben Fight School) defeated Dominic Abalos (Disciples of Puhi) in 1:18 of round 1 by rear naked choke submission.
Marlon Calventas (Bulls Pen) defeated Kaimana Tomacdor (Freelance Kaua‘i) in 39 seconds of round 2 via a mounted guillotine submission in the 180-pound amateur Pankration bout. In this Pankration bout, once fighters hit the ground, no strikes are allowed.
Pablo Garcia (Nu Era Jiu Jitsu) defeated Stenton Boiser (Pure Jiu Jitsu) in 1:06 of round 1 via a mounted guillotine submission in the 145-pound amateur MMA bout.
In the 135-pound amateur MMA bout, Joe Gogo (M-1) defeated Shawn Tsutsumi (Team MMAD) in 25 seconds of round 2 via technical knockout (strikes).
In the only women’s bout of the night, Chelsea Pabo of the Disciples of Puhi defeated Kekai Kozlowski of HiBred Martial Arts in 80 seconds of round 1 via knockout in the 125-pound women’s amateur kickboxing bout.
In the 145-pound amateur MMA bout, Timmy Teves (New Breed Kaua‘i) defeated Tyler Vaughn (Hawaiian MMA) via unanimous decision.
Team MMAD’s Daymon Carr defeated Brad Spirigiliozzi of Chris Leben’s Fight School in 1:42 of round 1 via technical knockout (strikes) in the 170-pound amateur MMA bout.
In the semi-main event of the night, and quite possibly one of the most hard hitting fights of the night, Hiromine Ito of Chris Leben’s Fight School defeated Team MMAD’s Jonah Estrella via knockout in 39 seconds of round 3 in the 160-pound amateur MMA bout.
The action steadily continued to the main event, the 133-pound amateur MMA bout, with Shayne Biven of 808 Fight Factory defeating Conrado Martin of Maverick MMA via referee/doctor stoppage (cut) in 48 seconds of round 2.
“Rapid Fire” proved once again that the level of talent being brought to X1-Ainofea-RK Sports productions keeps increasing at a rapid pace. Fighters gain experience at these smaller shows, and successful fighters will get to showcase their hard work throughout the year at “Mayhem at the Mansion” on November 11, 2012 at Kilohana, where multiple belts will be put up for grabs.
