KAPA‘A — The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation has announced the intermittent closure of Kuhio Highway near mile marker 24 at Kalihiwai for the purpose of removing several large and unstable albizia trees.
Work began this week and will continue each week day through Aug. 31. Motorists should expect temporary road closures starting at approximately 10 p.m., according to a news release.
These closures will be approximately 20 to 30 minutes at a time while the trees are cut and removed from the highway. Work will end at 5 a.m.
Motorists are advised to use caution while driving through the work area and to allow extra travel time.
Tree work is done as the weather permits.
