LIHU‘E — Starting Wednesday, the four HI-5 bottle redemption centers operated by Kaua‘i Community Recycling Services (KCRS) will be closed due to fiscal issues.
A reopening date has not yet been set.
The affected centers are:
• Kekaha, located across from the old sugar mill
• Koloa, next to the Koloa fire station
• Kapa‘a, next to Kaua‘i Community Federal Credit Union in the Arzadon Industrial Park
• Kilauea, behind Kaua‘i Mini-Golf
Those wanting to redeem their HI-5 beverage containers during the closures are encouraged to go to other redemption sites on the island including: Kapahi, located on Kawaihau Road behind Menehune Food Mart; Lihu‘e, at the Garden Island Disposal (GID) facility next to the Lihu‘e transfer station; Nawiliwili, at the corner of Wilcox and Kanoa streets near the Kaua’i Athletic Club (the old Hale Kaua‘i); and Lawa‘i, next to the Lawa‘i Post Office.
