On an impromptu visit to ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i Times ventured into one of Kaua‘i’s newest spots for ono grinds and tasty brews. Kaua‘i Island Brewery and Grill recently opened its doors on July 9 and is a wonderful hangout to shoot the breeze and enjoy tasty dishes and drinks.
Owners Dave Curry, Eric Horner, Cory Masaveg and Frank Guillermo were all on hand to give Kaua’i Times a grand tour of the restaurant and explain the array of dishes and beers offered at Kaua‘i Island Brewery and Grill.
“We offer local, handcrafted beer and good local grinds,” said Dave Curry, brewmaster and co-owner.
Curry offered samples of two of the most popular beers, both priced at $5.25: The Fonz IPAaaa and the Cane Fire Red ale. These beers are brewed in-house, making this brewery one of the western-most breweries in the world.
The restaurant is spacious with a lot of room for moving out and about.
Upstairs, the restaurant overlooks beautiful Port Allen, where locals and visitors can enjoy a scenic oceanside view and sunset.
The guys cooked up two delicious platters that were filling, delicious and worth the price.
First on the menu was the Port Allen Surf and Turf, priced at $15.95. The Port Allen Surf and Turf is a delicious helping of ahi poke, crab cake and smoked meat (pork.)
This onolicious pupu is a favorite amongst all locals. Come on, who doesn’t enjoy ahi poke and smoked meat?
Next up, the Nui Nachos, priced at $14.95, is a generous platter, consisting of a big mound of fresh fried chips, two layers of cheddar cheese and Monterey jack cheese, black beans, kalua pork, olives, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, guacamole, sour cream and a side of salsa.
This bagga is no joke. It can feed a family. If you don’t believe me, order it and see for yourself.
Aside from the wonderful food, spacious atmosphere and beautiful scenery, the service at Kaua‘i Island Brewery and Grill was exceptional. Everyone was helpful, had smiles on their faces and really took the time to ensure a quality good experience.
Although Kaua‘i Island Brewery and Grill is still new, it brings a lot to the table in terms of quality food, drinks and service.
Be sure to visit their grand opening on Wednesday.
