LIHU‘E — People have from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to view an exhibition hosted the Women Artists of Kaua‘i at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists’ gallery space at Kukui Grove Center.
The Women Artists of Kaua‘i opened the weekend with a silent auction, which accompanied the art exhibit with proceeds from the auction benefiting Hale Ho‘omalu and Nana’s House, both family support service agencies.
“Each of the artist contributed something for the auction,” said Marionette Taboniar. “Proceeds from the auction go 100 percent to help the two agencies. A portion of the sales from the exhibition will also go to help.”
Taboniar, who along with Patrice Pendarvis came off a successful painting workshop at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens Visitor Center in Po‘ipu, said the two service agencies are no strangers to Women Artists of Kaua‘i who hosted a similar exhibit last year to help them.
Both family support centers provide a food pantry program, clothing closet, parenting classes, counseling, Head Start and health start programs, legal services and more — all free to the community.
“We even have a mobile munchies program provided by the Lihu‘e Lutheran Church,” said Dory Farias, program director at Hale Ho‘omalu in Kapa‘a.
Farias and Momi Machado, the program director for Nana’s House in Waimea, were tasked with greeting guests and had an abundance of fliers talking about their various programs.
