LIHU’E – A project to replace the worn-out seats at the Kaua’i War Memorial Convention Hall was successful, according to a news release from the County of Kaua‘i.
“I’m very happy with the seat replacement project,” says Eddie Sarita, manager of the convention hall, in the release. “The manufacturer sent a representative to Kaua’i to mark the floor off so the contractor could install the rows of seats along an arch. It was a challenging project and the results are great. He even painted the concrete floor, which added a nice touch.”
Approximately 900 of the old seats were brought to Puhi Metals Recycling Center for recycling, while 200 of them were picked up for re-use by a local organization.
A project to replace the carpet at the convention hall will begin Dec. 17, and sound baffles will undergo cleaning and the existing stove in the kitchen will be changed to a 48-inch Wolf gas range.
Other improvements include replacement of the theater curtains and the installation of granite countertops and a tankless water heater.
