KILAUEA — Buddha is quoted as once saying, “Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, men cannot live without a spiritual life.” This Saturday, a troupe of talented artists will light the fire to illuminate one’s soul.
Soul Fire Productions is bringing “Illumination,” an evening of fun at a Kilauea private state, complete with Navitan Circus’ acrobatics, Sudeeka belly dancers, aerial silks and water sphere from Annabelle D’Artois, and of course, the pyrotechnic performance “Ho‘o mana mana” from Soul Fire.
DJ Micah Skye will add his beats to the event.
“It’s going to be a classy evening, with wine and pupus,” Soul Fire performer Angela Babcock said. “It’s a beautiful private estate, there’s going to be a lot of entertainment.”
Bacbcock said her group rarely has shows open to the public. Usually, Soul Fire performs for private events, but Saturday the public will have a chance to experience Soul Fire’s talent, among many other performers.
“Combining elegant and unique costuming with feminine grace, strength and power, Soul Fire Productions features theatrics, world-class fire dancing, aerial acrobatics, belly dance, sphere performers, cube contortion, hula and Tahitian,” states a press release from Soul Fire.
The show’ revenues will go toward funding a multi-media production planned for 2013, called “SEKAI,” which mean “one world” in Japanese language.
“We’re creating a whole new multi media production for Kaua‘i in 2013,” said Babcock, barely containing her enthusiasm.
SEKAI will be a story about hope, change and the journey to create a new world. It follows a young girl, the chosen one, who must travel to a far away land to plant a sacred seed so that the new consciousness may be born.
Saturday’s event will be a the Gaia Temple in Kilauea, from 6 to 10 p.m., at 4330D Kilauea Farms Rd. Donations starting at $30 are being accepted. There will be free pupus and a silent auction.
