Congratulations to Dirk Soma and his ‘ohana on the formation of the Kaua‘i Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce, which celebrated its first event since being formed on Sept. 12.
Dirk Soma used to work with Randall Francisco, the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce president, on O‘ahu, and now that he’s home, decided to expand on the Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce, which is on O‘ahu and Maui.
Kamealoha Smith is the president and Jennifer Ingersoll (she made the kick-butt cake!) is the Carol Texeira and Chantal Zarbaugh equivalent in the new organization.
And since this was a political event (OHA candidate Liberta Hussey Albao said everybody gets to vote for OHA), Janice Bond was checking it out.
It was strange not seeing Haunani Kaui without her trusty Taylor 12-string, but she was having fun, anyway. The same could be said for OHA candidates Billy Swain and Keola Alalem Worthington (he’ll be playing at the Zonta Craft Fair Sunday at the Grove Farm Museum).
