LIHU‘E — You’ve certainly heard of “food for thought,” but this may be the first time you’ve heard of “food for music.”
In January, 58 members of the Island School Alaka‘i Chorus will head to O‘ahu for the 2013 Ho‘olokahi High School Choral Festival, states an Island School press release.
On Oct. 20 and Oct. 27, Lighthouse Bistro in Kilauea will donate 30 percent of patrons’ dinner tabs to the school’s fundraising efforts aimed at offsetting the cost of attending the prestigious annual festival.
The Island School Alaka’i Chorus was founded by Philip Steinbacher in 2006. At the O‘ahu festival, the 58 choral members will join more than 300 high-school singers from across Hawai‘i to rehearse and present a mass choral concert at Honolulu’s Central Union Church, under the direction of internationally recognized choral clinician and conductor, Dr. Edith Copley.
Lighthouse Bistro is at the Historic Kong Lung Market Center, on the road to Kilauea Lighthouse and Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge on the North Shore.
Lighthouse Bistro has been serving food and presenting live entertainment in an open air, Hawaiian plantation garden setting since 1999.
Diners should present a flyer to their server when placing their order to assure donations are made. The flyer is free and can be downloaded at sites.google.com/a/ischool.org/chorus/ISC/bistro-night, or obtained by contacting Island School at 246-0233 or philip@ischool.org.
Reservations for dining on either night is recommended, and can be made at 828-0480.
