KALAHEO — The Department of Water has issued a water conservation request for Kalaheo residents effective Tuesday due to repair and maintenance work on the Kalaheo Nursery tank. The work is expected to be completed by the end of next week.
The affected areas include: the mauka side of Kaumuali‘i Highway from Wawae to Opu Road including La‘e, Pu‘uwai; Kikala, Kuli roads; and all side streets off these roads, according to a county press release.
While the work is being done, customers in the affected and surrounding areas are urged to conserve water and restrict water consumption to essential uses. These measures may prevent the depletion of the limited water supply.
Essential needs include cooking, bathing and toilet flushing.
Water conservation measures include refraining from car washing, reducing outdoor irrigation and using water wisely indoors and outdoors.
Residents are also asked to notify their family, friends and neighbors who will be affected by the conservation request.
