The Hawai‘i State Junior Golf Association culminates its season by inviting all champions to compete in an end-of-the-year tournament, this year 57 champions collecting at the Wailea Golf Club-Emerald Course, sponsored by Michelle Wie.
The tournament also serves as the final opportunity to earn points towards the “HSJGA Player of the Year” award in each age division.
Wie, the title sponsor of the tournament, traveled to Maui and was present during the two days of play, states an HSJGA release.
Wie launched a fundraising campaign which raised more than $40,000 for the HSJGA, donating her time, collectibles, and matched the first $10,000 toward the fundraising effort.
Her efforts will ensure Hawai‘i’s junior golfers to continue to experience first-class competitions and opportunities.
The HSJGA extends its appreciation to Wie, the title sponsor and tournament host, and the Wailea Golf Club which allowed the organization to showcase many bright and talented young golfers.
The Wailea Golf Club also sponsored the 2012 Girls’ Junior America’s Cup, the 2013 Junior America’s Cup and 10-year host of the Michelle Wie HSJGA Tournament of Champions.
