KOLOA — The public is invited to join the Koloa Union Church Wednesday evening for its “Blue Christmas Candle Lighting Service” starting at 7 p.m. at the church located at 3289 Po‘ipu Road in Koloa town.
“The Blue Christmas Candlelight Service is a special service for anyone needing encouragement and support this holiday season,” said Kahu Rennie Mau, in a Koloa Union Church release. “When the holidays approach, it is difficult to celebrate and be full of joy when one may have experienced loss through a death, a broken relationship, loss of a job, finances, and other events in our lives which have brought us grief.”
Mau said the church will also be lighting 26 candles for the children and adults lost in Sandy Hook School.
During the special service, there will be soft hymns, prayers, lighting of candles and an optional anointing of oil for those wishing to receive it.
“We will be lighting candles and anointing with oil, anyone wishing the oil of gladness,” the pastor said.
Materials will be available for those wishing more resources.
