Marissa Martinez is one of the many little girls who grew up from the ranks of community basketball (Coach Max Manera said he missed the JV game because he was coaching a community team) to the ranks of the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation. Marissa will be in action at the Bernice Hundley Friday night when Kaua‘i travels to Kapa‘a.
Beatrice Edelstein has an Olympic house guest, Suzanne Stettinius of Virginia, who competed in the Women’s Modern Pentathlon at the London Olympics.
Wendy Tannery (she was collecting tickets at the Wednesday soccer games) knew all about the pentathlon, talking about riding and shooting at targets. Her daughter, Cheyanne was in Las Vegas for the rodeo (Ross Shimabukuro said it started the day he left).
Mary Lardizabal of the Kapa‘a Middle School ‘Ukulele Band and Chorus said ‘Tis the Season to be busy. She was playing at the Easter Seals Gingerbread Festival, the Festival of Lights and will be hosting the day-long Winter Extravaganza featuring the Showtime Characters Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
