PUHI — Shoppers can expect some surprises and stunning moves when the Kaua‘i Gymnastics Academy of Puhi brings its Air4Tumble tumble track to the Kukui Grove Center Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
More than 35 members performing in three groups will utilize the special Air4Tumble mat to perform their high-flying routines. The Air4Tumble at the Kaua‘i Gymnastics Academy is manufactured in Sweden and is only one of two units west of the Mississippi River, states a Kaua‘i Gymnastics release.
Gymnasts range in age from 7 through 16 years old, and will be spread through the Iki Hui, or small team, the Hoku Hui, translated to mean “star” team, and the Kula Hui, or gold team.
The Kula group is the largest group with 21 members, growing since the Kaua‘i Gymnastics exhibition performance last year.
“They have come a long way,” said Jack Leonard, who along with his wife Kay, own and coach at the Puhi facility. “The group has grown, not only in numbers, but also in ability. People should get a nice show.”
Monday night, the Kula group was working on some of its high-flying routines before a handful of parents and other gymnasts who were wrapping up their respective workouts.
Jack Leonard said the members of the Kula group work out between three to seven hours a week, depending on their levels.
Kula Hui Level 7 performers include Makena Jaeb, Kanani Segismundo, Kylie Wintersteen and Samantha Wintersteen. Kula Hui Level 8 gymnasts include Talia Abrams, Sydney Agudong, Erin Akamine, Julianna Brumbaugh, Mara Chastain, Allison Culliney, Olivia Gegen, Chloe McDaniel, Kelli Okayama, Carolyn Price, Tessa Ramsey, Ashley Ricciardi, Mia Ricciardi, Shianne Schorr, Haley Schorr and Angela Rhey Ventura. Kula Hui Level 10 performer is Kaisa Ishikawa.

The Winter Break Gym Fun Camp offers a variety of activities including parachute games, races, arts and crafts, gymnastics, general fitness, gym games and more.
