HANALEI — Firefighters extinguished a structure fire that broke out early Friday morning in Hanalei.
Police Dispatch received a call Friday around 1:30 a.m. of a fire behind the Tahiti Nui restaurant along Kuhio Highway in Hanalei, according to a county news release.
Firefighters from the Kaua‘i Fire Department, Hanalei station responded and located a small storage shed fully involved in fire. Surrounding residents had contained the blaze to the building using garden hoses until firefighters arrived.
The storage shed, owned by Tahiti Nui, is being considered a total loss. The estimated damage to the structure and its contents is roughly $7,000.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
