HANALEI — Hawai‘i Life Real Estate Brokers donated $30,000 to the Hawaiian Islands Land Trust.
HILT has a Founding Few program that allows donors to commit a set amount to the organization for three years.
“As with any fundraising, it’s not the amount that you give, it’s that you give,” said Matt Beall on the Hanalei real estate firm’s blog.
Beall, a co-owner of Hawai‘i Life, wrote on the blog, “If you’ve spent time in Hawai‘i, you’ve already benefited from the protection of shorelines and open space that the Land Trust has helped to provide.”
The nonprofit HILT was developed in 2011 from a collaboration of four existing organizations including Kaua‘i Public Land Trust, O‘ahu Land Trust, Maui Coastal Land Trust, and Hawai‘i Island Land Trust, according to their website.
From there, HILT volunteers and donors work to preserve the heritage of the islands by successfully protecting coastal areas, working ranches and agricultural lands, wildlife habitats, watersheds, park and recreation areas and Hawaiian cultural sites.
Beall said when Hawai‘i Life started, the founders committed to philanthropy and supporting their communities, the islands where they live and Hawai‘i in general.
“We’re honored to contribute, and we’re even more honored to take a stand on behalf of the Hawaiian Islands Land Trust,” Beall said, while encouraging their clients and supporters to also donate to HILT.
