Mariano Visitacion
Mariano Agustin Visitacion of Lihue passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on January 8, 2013, at the age of 74. He was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on September 11, 1938, and retired from McBryde Sugar Plantation as a supervisor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leandro and Rosa Visitacion; brothers, Pedro and Macario; sisters, Melchora Daenos and Maria Lorenzo; grandson, Brendan Leary.
He is survived by his wife, Leticia Visitacion of Lihue; son, Chad (Kristine) Visitacion of Lihue; daughter, Marlene (Noel) Leary of Lihue; four grandchildren, Peyton Visitacion, Mariano Visitacion II, Meghan Leary, Emma Leary; sisters, Martina (Simeon) Patricio of Kalaheo, Teresa Calma of Hanamaulu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Immaculate conception Church with viewing from 8:00 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Joseph “Joe” Stoddard
Joseph Scott “Joe” Stoddard of Wailua, Hawaii passed away on December 23, 2012 at Straub Hospital, Honolulu, Hawaii at the age of 91. Born on June 4, 1921 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was Partner/Owner, Designer and Manufacturer of Fine wood office furniture in Los Angeles, California before moving to Kauai in 1990; Draftsman Douglas Aircraft, El Segundo, California; and Leut. j.g. United States Navy, served aboard an aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain, CV-39.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia “Gini” Stoddard; daughter, Janet Brindley (Kim) of Wailua Homesteads; Richard Stoddard (Cher) of Beatty, Nevada; and grandsons, James Jackman of Placentia, California, and Jason Jackman of Redlands, California.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Lihue United Church (behind King Auto). Gathering will begin at 1:30 pm with service to follow at 2:00 pm.
Family requests aloha attire. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grove Farm Homestead Museum or The Kauai Historical Society.
Damian Garma
Damian Garma of Kapaa, Kauai, died on January 15, 2013 at Garden Isle Health Care at the age of 86. Born on February 12, 1926, in Laoag City, Philippines, he was an Irrigator with Lihue Plantation.
He is survived by his wife, Adriana Jacinto Garma; son, Roger “Mario” (Nora) Jacinto Garma of San Jose Calif.; daughters, Eliza (Wally) Garma Daquioag, and Rina (Thom) Garma Pascual; sister, Sebedilla Garma of Philippines; nine grandchildren, Marlon Gabriel Garma, Kristina Gabriel Garma, Mark Damian Gabriel Garma, Mary Garma Daquioag, Sheldon Garma Daquioag, Kenneth Garma Daquioag, Kirstie Mia Garma Pascual, Kleiff Garma Pascual, and Kyleen Nina Garma Pascual; and two great-grandchildren, Jaezallyn, and Kailani.
Wake services will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013, at Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawai, from 6pm to 9pm.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapaa, with viewing from 8:00am to 9:30am, and Mass celebrated at 10 am. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Demetrio Bicarme
Demetrio Bicarme of Lihue passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on January 21, 2013, at the age of 82. He was born in Bangued, Abra, Philippines on April 9, 1930, and retired as the District Engineer with State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation.
He is survived by his wife, Benita Bicarme of Lihue; daughters, Belinda Elkins of Florida, Elizabeth Bicarme of California; sons, Nereo Bicarme of Arizona, Rupert (Eileen) Bicarme of California; grandchildren, David Elkins, Austyn Bicarme, Giselle Bicarme; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Lihue Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.

Katherine Preston
Katherine DeVictoria Preston of Lihue passed away on December 19, 2012 at the age of 79. Born in Maui on January 7, 1933, she was a waitress at Coco Palms Hotel as well as a technician with Fair Child Technologies.
She was preceded in death by her father, John DeVictoria; mother, Mary Santiago Lopez DeVictoria; Donald J. Christian; ex-husband, Jack Preston; companion, Norbert Hauser; brothers, Conrad and Aurthor De Victoria; and son, Jesse Christian.
She is survived by Pandora Christian; Mark Christian, Michelle Preston; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Lihue Baptist. Visitation will begin at 11-11:30 am with services to follow; light refreshments after.
Another service and burial will be held on Molokai at a later date.
Fred Dela Cruz
Federico Almazon Dela Cruz, (aka Fred Dela Cruz) of Kaumakani, Kauai, died on January 5, 2013 at Kauai Care Center at the age of 98. Born on February 11, 1914 in Pilar Abra, Philippines, he was an Industrial Relations Supervisor with Olokele Sugar Co.
He is survived by his sons, Stanley Dela Cruz of Eleele, and Ernest Dela Cruz of Kekaha; daughter, Roberta (Lowell) Agena of Kekaha; brothers, Alfredo of Honolulu, and Luisito of Philippines; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Private services were held.

Ruth Muramaru
Ruth Muramaru of Honolulu passed away on January 3, 2013 at Kuakini Medical Center at the age of 73. Born on April 9, 1939 in Hilo, she was a retired Teacher/Speech Therapist for the Department of Education.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kuhachi and Kinuyo Usui.
She is survived by her husband, George Muramaru; sons, Keith Masui, Dean Masui; step sons, Dunn Muramaru, Gordon Muramaru; four grandchildren; and her sister, Kay Hatayama.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Visitation will be held at 5:00 pm with services to follow at 6:00 pm.
Family requests casual attire and no flowers.
Magdalena Lorenzo
Magdalena Dancel Lagazo Lorenzo of Lihue passed away on January 15, 2013, at the age of 68. She was born in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on July 1944, and was employed by Salvation Army in Lihue.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernardo Lorenzo.
She is survived by her children, Bernard (Shannon) Lorenzo of Arizona, Mark Lorenzo and Alan Lorenzo of Lihue, Noland (Nathlie) Lorenzo of Waipahu, Veda Mae Lorenzo of Lihue; mother, Florentina Dancel of California; sister, Floradema (Momar) Ibalio; brothers, Monico (Flora) Dancel, Hernando (Erlinda) Dancel, Roldan (Cynthia) Dancel all of California; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lihue with viewing from 8:30 a.m. and services celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.

Kazue Taogoshi
Kazue Taogoshi of Kapaa passed away at Garden Island Health Care on January 20, 2013, at the age of 90. She was born in Anahola on July 23, 1922, and retired as a cashier with Foodland Super Market.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sadamu Taogoshi; son, Gary Taogoshi; siblings, Harry, Haruo, Haruko, Yukiko and Kiyomi.
She is survived by four sons, Albert “Shige” (Lilliann) Yoshii of Oahu, Roy (Lynne) Taogoshi of Kapaa, Alan (Susan) Taogoshi of Kapaa, Cary (Prescilla) Taogoshi of Oahu, 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Haruto (Miyoko) Oshima of California; sister, Fumiko Matsukawa of California; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Kapaa Hongwanji Mission with visitation from 10:00 a.m. and services celebrated at 11:00 a.m.
