HANALEI — Firefighters extinguished a structure fire that started early Friday morning.
According to the county’s website, Kaua‘i Police dispatch received a call around 1:30 a.m. of a fire behind the Tahiti Nui restaurant along Kuhio Highway in Hanalei.
Once on scene, firefighters from the Hanalei station located a small storage shed fully engulfed in fire.
Residents in the area contained the blaze to the building using garden hoses until firefighters arrived.
Owned by Tahiti Nui, the small shed is being considered a total loss with estimated damages to the structure and its contents is roughly $7,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
