LIHU‘E — The old, unused prescription pair of glasses collecting dust can be used to help someone see better.
Saturday, the Lions Clubs on Kaua‘i will be collecting old, unused prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses as part of its “Lions in Sight” month initiative.
In addition to eyeglasses, the Lions will also be accepting used hearing aids at five locations around the island from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday.
Lions Clubs members will be on hand at the Walmart store in Lihu‘e, Foodland in the Princeville Shopping Center, Big Save in Koloa, Longs Drugs in both the Kaua‘i Village and Kukui Grove Center, and Ishihara Market in Waimea.
The glasses will be distributed to those in need in developing countries where eye care is often unaffordable and inaccessible.
Someone’s used prescription eyeglasses can help a child read, an adult succeed in his job, an elderly resident maintain his, or her, independence, and provide a community with more opportunities to grow and thrive.
