Support for the FairTax bill
America works when Americans work. We have driven out of America millions of jobs over the last 30 years because we can’t compete with countries with lower costs of doing business.
Our wages, benefits, regulations, taxes, etc. all contribute to driving the cost of doing business up. Consequently, jobs go elsewhere.
There is a bill in Congress, HR 25 that resurrects America as arguably the most cost competitive place to do business in the world, the FairTax bill. No more federal tax on income. Your gross pay is your take home pay. Taxes to fund the government are generated by taxing consumption of new goods and services.
To help citizens pay this tax on basic goods and services, a prebate is paid monthly to all legal Americans. No favors for special interests, everyone is treated the same. Manufacturers worldwide would flock to the USA to build factories. Good paying jobs return.
Call your Congressman today and ask him to support the bill.
America works when Americans work.

Take traffic precautions
Overtaking on the right shoulder of the highways in or out of towns can be very dangerous to pedestrians/joggers, cyclist and everyone who shares the highway.
Just recently an Oregon man died while overtaking on the right. He got hit by a truck and he died. My deepest sympathy to the family.
When I’m behind a vehicle making a left turn on the highway (especially at intersections), I usually go more to the right to and stop behind of the left turning vehicle. To prevent any vehicle to takeover on the right of me. When will people learn to stop this kind (overtaking on the right shoulder) of practice?

Obama’s gun bill
As a visitor to your wonderful, beautiful island, I read with great interest your coverage articles concerning gun violence and current legislative attempts to resolve the violence associated with illegal use of weapons.
However, I must contest your lack of factual interest in educating the general, non-shooting public about current restrictions and associated abuse of both state and federal laws by our own government.
I admit that I legally own numerous firearms, all I of which are properly registered and comply with existing law. I love to shoot! It’s relaxing, it trains my concentration, and it’s fun for both me and my family to enjoy the outdoors.
But I strongly disagree with your current depiction of Mr. Obama’s gun bill as effective. It’s not. As a matter of fact, federal officers are probably the WORST offenders of current laws. No one seems willing to report that current law forbids “straw” purchases. My wife is unable to buy me a shotgun for my birthday, but the government has made hundreds of illegal purchases against federal law! Not one has been prosecuted.
As soon as we create a law that every American will obey, I’ll be all for it. Until then, the outlaws with badges worry me as much as any criminal!
