PO‘IPU — Shakas, bows of greeting and “alohas” filled the Grand Hyatt Grand Ballroom last month as a group of 250 Japanese visitors gathered for a welcoming dinner.
The group — which arrived on the island in mid-January — consisted of the top independent distributors of the Japan division of Forever Living Products, a multi-billion dollar company, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, that manufactures and sells dozens of wellness and beauty products, including aloe vera gel drinks.
Each year, as part of its annual travel incentive program, the Japanese distributors escape the cold of Japan, usually for the warmer weather of the Hawaiian Islands.
In addition to the welcome dinner — which included a musical performance by Danny Couch — the group had plans to go sightseeing in Waimea Canyon and horseback riding.
Their four-day trip ended recently, but the company will hold its Global Rally in April on O‘ahu.
