KALAHEO — Team Central swept its opening series and Lepo Ula posted a win Monday when the county youth basketball league inaugurated its Division 3 boys, or players in the seventh and eighth grades, games at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
KALAHEO — Team Central swept its opening series and Lepo Ula posted a win Monday when the county youth basketball league inaugurated its Division 3 boys, or players in the seventh and eighth grades, games at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Team Central Silver, coached by the tandem pair of Richie Gano and Danilo Tutop, opened the night with a 45-18 win over Team Lihu‘e Black, coached by Billy Ramos.
Team Central Black, coached by the Gano and Tutop duo, completed its wins with a 52-18 victory over Team Lihu‘e Red, coached by Reid Tamanaha, in the second of three games.
Steve Decker coached the Lepo Ula to a 42-22 showing over Westside Basketball, coached by Dino Pabre, in the nightcap.
Aaron Renaud topped the Team Central Silver scoring with 15 points with Michael Dasalla and Thomas Yam adding eight and seven points, respectively.
Tajh Mapuhi topped the Team Lihu‘e Black showing on six points followed by David Pascua adding four points.
Karljhay Miguel led the Team Central Black win on nine points followed by Joseph Cumlat and Jayden Gandia each contributing eight points.
Junah Corpuz and Grant Urmatan topped the Team Lihu‘e Red effort with six points apiece.
Irish Pascua and Carl Mecham led the Lepo Ula win with nine points apiece while D.J. Pabre dropped 18 of Westside Basketball’s 22 points.
The Boys Division 3 next take the floor, Thursday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center with three games scheduled starting at 6 p.m.
Papalina Division 3 will debut against the Westside Basketball in the 6 p.m. opener followed by the Ballers 1 taking on Hanakila in the 7 p.m. tipoff. The Ballers 2 will close the night against Hanapepe in the 8 p.m. nightcap.
Six games are on tap for Saturday when the Girls Division 2, or players in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades, open its season with a pair of games while the Girls Division 1, or players in the third, fourth and fifth grade near the end of its season. A pair of Boys Division 3 games round out the day.
