LIHU‘E — Kaua’i Police Department officials said they are continuing to search for Justin Wynn Klein, who was indicted for the attempted murder of a Japanese visitor in Kalalau Valley in December.
While police have followed up on numerous tips received since the incident occurred, Klein has not been seen since the incident in Kalalau. Tips from members of the public have dwindled in recent weeks.
Officials said that the reward remains $1000 for information leading to Klein’s arrest.
Klein, 37, whom police say is homeless, is described as a Caucasian male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, with brown hair in a Mohawk style, possibly a mustache and beard, and a band tattoo around his left arm.
The Kaua’i Grand Jury indicted Klein after a witness reported seeing Klein throw a 31-year-old Japanese visitor from a cliff in the Kalalau Valley on Dec. 16, police officials said.
The female victim was transported to Wilcox Hospital in critical condition, where she remained for 10 days before being released to her family who escorted the woman home.
“We ask the public to remain vigilant in locating Klein as our officers continue their search for him,” said Kaua’i Police Chief Darryl Perry in a statement. “There is an attempted murder suspect still at-large and we want to find him and bring him to justice.”
