Happy retirement to Sandy Jardin Inouye, who retired from the U.S. Postal Service following more than 33 years of service (see the full story on A8). Mahalo to Ori Soto (she was helping at the Lawa‘i Post Office when all the partying was going on) for the heads-up. But the Jardin legacy is not over as Sandy said her daughter-in-law, Tavey Inouye, is working at the post office where her father served as the first postmaster.
Hats off to David Tao and all the press crew (and those who aren’t coming back) on a great job with the newspaper for all of the years everyone devoted to presenting the best news package it could for all you readers! It’s very unusual not to hear the pre-press noises coming from the back room.
Chris Faye is thrilled about the new Girls Day exhibit she received from a Kaua‘i Museum donor. You can check it out now since Girls Day is Sunday.
In light of no bookstores in Lihu‘e, the Kauai Museum will have Aunty Ihi and Agnes “Aggie” Marti-Kini doing a special book reading and signing Monday to launch the museum’s expansion of the gift shop to include books — especially by Kaua‘i authors.
