HDS names Gary Asato director of marketing and sales
LIHU‘E — Hawai‘i Dental Service, the state’s first and largest dental benefits plan, recently named Gary Asato as director of marketing and sales.
As a member of HDS’ management team, Asato reports to Faye Kurren, HDS president and CEO, and is responsible for overseeing marketing and the HDS sales team.
Asato has nearly 20 years of marketing and sales experience with health plans in Hawai‘i. Prior to joining HDS, he had been sales director with United Healthcare Hawai‘i for five years, and was responsible for significantly increasing membership in the company’s Medicare Advantage plan.
He also served as director of sales and marketing for Kaiser Permanente Hawai‘i from 1997 to 2007. Over the 10-year period, he oversaw all aspects of marketing and sales for a number of products, and directed the growth in membership and revenue for the Hawai‘i region.
Asato received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Washington and an MBA from Chaminade University of Honolulu. Asato and his family are Kailua residents.
