Chuck Malley, all the way from the Mainland, said Friday was a good sports day for the Mark Hubbard family when Barbara finished third in the National Clay Court 65s (remember when we had clay court tournaments at the Coco Palms?). Jeff Hubbard finished second (prone division) in the Pipeline bodyboarding contest, and David Hubbard ended fourth in the prone and second in the drop knee divisions at the Pipeline contest.
Chuck said Jeff and Dave started their own bodyboard business this year called “Hubboards” with boards appearing in the stores soon.
Mindy Hibbitt of the Kendama Kiosk at Kukui Grove Center said Saturday there is a kendama contest for the youth outside Rocco’s Pizza at the Harbor Mall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. While the kids are doing kendama, there will be a pizza eating contest for adults.
Shelly Gerardo said Zumba fans can enjoy the latest workouts with Troy Lazaro and help the Kaua‘i Special Olympics program this afternoon at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Tonight is also the first game of the KIF softball when Kaua‘i hosts Waimea in a single game starting at 5:30 p.m. at Isenberg Park in Lihu‘e.
