LIHU‘E — Tickets for the East Kaua‘i Lions annual pancake breakfast will be available at the door for a $7 donation, said Jim Whitfield Sunday outside the Big Kmart store.
“We’re taking the ticket sales on the road,” Whitfield said. “We want to expand the number of people who can enjoy the event. Funds we generate from the breakfast are used for the service projects undertaken by the club throughout the year.”
Whitfield, who moved to Kaua‘i in 2011 from the Mililani Lions organization, said they also have a breakfast, but the response is unlike the Kaua‘i event.
“On O‘ahu, our ticket sales are usually done at the mall and we do a good number of sales,” Whitfield said.
“This year, we were at the Kukui Grove Center on Friday night and Saturday. Today, we’re outside the Big Kmart store, and we’ll have tickets at the door, too.”
The annual event will take place Sunday from 6:30 to 10 a.m. at Elsie Wilcox Elementary School cafeteria.
Menu includes pancakes, eggs, rice, fresh pineapple, Portuguese sausage and Miso soup created by Lion Harvey Kinoshita and his wife Sandy. Meals are available for eat-in or take out.
Whitfield said they will also have some entertainment during breakfast.
Tickets are still available from any East Kaua‘i Lions Club member, or at the door Sunday.
