LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i High School Red Raiders junior varsity baseball team was led by Keala Iwasaki, who finished 2 for 3 at the plate and pitched two scoreless innings while striking out four. The Red Raiders did enough to comeback and beat the Kapa‘a High School Warriors 5-4 Thursday at Vidinha Stadium.
Kaua‘i was able to push its final run across the plate in the the bottom of the seventh with the score 4-4 to win after falling behind 2-1 early in the game.

With the win, the Red Raider junior varsity squad has improved to 2-0-1 and will play its final game of the season Thursday at Vidinha Stadium when it hosts the Waimea High School Menehune.
Kaua‘i has a slew of young talent, including a number of players from the 2012 Hawai‘i State PONY Regional Champions. While the Red Raiders’ varsity squad has gone through ups and downs this season, there is no doubt that the future remains bright for Kaua‘i.
The Warriors fall to 0-2-1 and will face off today against the Menehune April 25 at Hanapepe Stadium for the final game in the inaugural junior varsity baseball season.
The varsity Warriors squad (4-3) will have no time to rest and will play the Waimea Menehune (6-2) in what has turned into a huge doubleheader for both clubs.
The Menehune have dropped the first two games of the second half leaving the door open for the Warriors, who are coming off of a victory over the Red Raiders Wednesday.
If the Warriors can some how come away with a sweep, it will anchor itself to the top of the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation standings and perhaps force a one game playoff against Waimea for the title. Game one starts at 10 a.m. at Ron Martin Field in Kapa‘a, and game two begins 30 minutes after the completion of game one.
