IRVINE, Calif. – For the third consecutive week, a University of Hawai‘i track and field athlete was named the Big West Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Junior Joanna Franke-Kuhn was bestowed the honor following her performance at last week’s Rainbow Relays.
The Duncan, British Columbia native hurled a meet record 188-3 (57.39m) in the hammer throw, breaking the previous mark of 177-0 (53.96m) that she set at last year’s meet. Her throw ranks No. 1 in the Big West.
Franke-Kuhn follows UH triple jumper Amanda Alvarez, who won the Big West weekly honor two straight weeks.
