KOLOA — The old sign is historic and holds a place on the wall of the Garden Island Federal Credit Union, Koloa Branch.
Formerly known as the Koloa Federal Credit Union, the Koloa Branch of GIFCU is inviting the public to its grand opening April 12, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Members are invited to experience an entire day of giveaways, refreshments and entries to a trip to Las Vegas from GIFCU.
“Our grand opening acknowledges the successful merger between Garden Island FCU and the former Koloa FCU,” GIFCU president Keith Uyeno said in a news release. “We would like to thank our members for their patience during this process, and invite others, especially residents and workers of Kaua‘i’s South Shore, to discover the benefits of membership with us.”
Starting April 1 and running until May 31, GIFCU will be hosting “Lucky 13,” the promotion acknowledging the year 2013 as GIFCU’s “lucky number.” The promotion allows GIFCU members an opportunity to win a trip to Las Vegas.
Members are invited to stop by the GIFCU, Koloa branch located at 3417 Po‘ipu Road, Suite 101, across from the Koloa Missionary Church, where the member’s name will be entered in the Las Vegas drawing.
Additionally, the more times a member signs up for a select service at GIFCU, the more times their name will be entered in the drawing.
GIFCU marketing coordinator Kim Tamaoka said although only members are eligible to win, non-members and prospective members are encouraged to stop by GIFCU, Koloa branch grand opening.
“If you’re not a member of Garden Island FCU, then now is an excellent time to become one,” Tamaoka said. “Our Las Vegas giveaway is a great incentive to join this month, but what is more important is that our credit union provides quality financial products and services for our members.”
Tamaoka said with two branches to offer members the added convenience of conducting business in Lihu‘e, or Koloa, the grand opening is a perfect time to find out more about the credit union and its current promotions.
During the grand opening festivities, members will be offered light refreshments and will have an opportunity to spin GIFCU’s “Wheel of Fortune” with prizes that include custom logo products and gift cards from various South Shore restaurants and businesses.
The Koloa branch office will also be conducting normal business services throughout the day.
Among the seven credit unions on Kaua‘i, GIFCU will become the second credit union with more than one branch location.
The GIFCU Lihu‘e branch is at 2973 Kele Street, near the Lihu‘e post office.
GIFCU is a nonprofit financial cooperative founded in 1938 as Lihu‘e Federal Credit Union under the sponsorship of The Lihu‘e Plantation Co.
Membership later expanded to serve the entire island.
GIFCU’s mission is to provide members with the best assistance and services to meeting their financial needs.
