If you are a fan of coconut cream pie, you’re in luck because May 8 (that’s today) is National Coconut Cream Pie Day, and Sharon Lasker of the Regency at Puakea said people are welcome to have some homemade coconut cream pie and tea, or coffee, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Speaking of the Regency, Roy Iwane of Washington has been spending the last several weeks transitioning a relative to Regency living. Roy was at the Kodomo no hi event Sunday where a little rain couldn’t dampen the spirit of the children, and Earl Nishiguchi got there early enough to take advantage of the food sales.
Laraine Moriguchi of the Kapaia Foundation had a nice display down at the site of the Kapaia Swinging Bridge where Mel Rapozo said that’s the only accessible place in Lihu‘e where one can hear rippling water.
Mason Moriguchi and his friends unveiled three new koi kites (not so good for flying in the rain) for Children’s Day, too.
Happy birthday to Viviane Stein who celebrated her special day on Children’s Day, too!
