Happy birthday to Bryden Kaauwai of the Boys &Girls Club (did you see all those Santa Fe clubhouse people?) who celebrated his special day on Saturday with all those people at the Great Futures (who called it an Ohana Day?) fundraiser that Tina Albao said was “Lemonade.”

You could donate $5 for a frozen lemonade (AsakaHerman’s order exploded from the rubber mallet!) that went perfect with the Stack’d mini pancakes (the secret is all those sides that come with the pancakes) that is new since Mother’s Day.
Kudos to all the B&G members for coming up with game solutions when there’s no budget to work with … Fill the Bottle even had adults trying their hand, and what a great variation on the dunking booth … definitely a new twist to fundraising instead of all those golf tournaments.
Kudos, too, to organizers of the new Missing and Murdered Indegenous Women and Girls on the new work of art that will grace the monthly Downtown Lihue Night Market (there’s one coming up, Saturday from 4 p.m.) on Kress Street … the unveiling should have been part of the Downtown Lihue event so you didn’t have to have Plan B for accessing Hamura’s Saimin (or avoid the construction on the old Kauai Realty building).
Okay, summer is here … Kauai Police Activities League starts flag football on Saturday at the North Vidinha fields (Touch A Truck is coming up in the next few weeks … look for it!), and the craft fair component comes to The Grove Farm Market … oops, I forgot, the opening reception for the Kauai Society of Artists “Washed Up” Marine Debris Art Show is on Friday from 5 p.m. at the KSA gallery in the Kukui Grove Center … World Ocean Day is on Sunday at the Outrigger Kauai Beach Resort from 10 a.m.
